John Hernandez '98 is a former professional baseball player who had a standout career both on and off the field. Drafted by the St. Louis Cardinals in the 15th round of the 1998 MLB June Amateur Draft out of Xaverian High School in Brooklyn, NY, Johnny played within the Cardinals organization from 1998 to 2003. Known for his versatility, he played in the outfield, primarily as a centerfielder, left fielder, and right fielder.
After his time in professional baseball, Johnny served his country with the United States Navy from 2004 to 2009, where he was a Squad Leader in Assault Craft Unit 1 and completed tours in Iraq and Africa. Following his military service, he returned to baseball and played for the Long Island Ducks from 2009 to 2010.
